Johnny Griffin was awarded the 2014 Paul Goldberg Leadership Award at the Leadership Roane County Graduation on June 19.
Griffin was chosen from several nominations as the fifth recipient of this prestigious award.
The award was created by the Leadership Roane County Class of 2009 and was presented for its namesake, Paul Goldberg a few weeks before his death.
Each year a member of the Leadership Roane County Alumni Association is chosen to receive this award based on criteria created by the class:
G – Giver of grace and kindness to people, making them feel valued and important
O – Others focused; Humble in relating to people
and wanting others to succeed
L – Listens respectfully to understand the needs and opinions of others
D – Dedicated to clarity, making the complex simple so people understand an issue in a clear and calm matter
B – Believes the potential of others and their potential to succeed
E – Encourages people to become strong leaders through words and mentoring
R – Recognizes a problem and provides solutions instead of obstacles
G – Gracious attitude
Past award recipients include Teresa Duncan, Dr. Silvia Mende, Kathy Parks and Robert Capell.
