Hall, Judkins show interest in office

Two local attorneys have picked up the paperwork to be certified as write-in candidates in the August General Election.

Current County Attorney Joe Judkins has yet to return his paperwork but local attorney Andrew Hall has already been certifiedas a candidate, according to Administrator of Elections Minnie Armes.

The deadline to qualify as a write-in candidate for the August General Election is June 18.

Other county offices will also be in the August ballot.

Biff Wilson is running unopposed for Morgan County Assessor of Property.

Carol Hamby is seeking her first election as County Clerk. Hamby was appointed by county commission to replace R.B. Human when he resigned last year.

Hamby is being challenged by Sheila Aytes Wilson, who has worked as a deputy clerk and is currently employed in the assessor of property's office.

Other races on the August ballot include three school board races. In the second district incumbent Terry Armes is opposed by Jerry Reynolds. Glen Moore is unopposed for a second term in the fourth district. The sixth district will have a new board member as Andy Lowe will not seek another term. Randy Armes will face off against Wendy Collins for the position.

The deadline to register to vote in the August election is

July 8. Early voting will be July 18 through Aug. 2.
