Twenty-four hours after escaping Greenback with a 50-48 victory, the Harriman Blue Devils pulled out another squeaker Tuesday night at Oakdale defeating the Eagles in overtime, 56-47.
The news wasn’t as good for the Lady Devils, however, as Oakdale picked up a 45-32 victory over the Lady Devils.
Harriman returns to action Friday with a home game against Greenback while Oakdale entertains Oneida.
Harriman played well early, but the Lady Devils couldn’t maintain their solid play for four quarters as Oakdale ran their season record to 21-2 overall with the 45-32 victory.
Powered by three-pointers from Haylee Goins and Olyvia Lunsford, the Lady Devils jumped out to a 8-2 lead before Oakdale settled down and pulled to within 10-9 at the end of the first period.
Harriman maintained their lead early in the second quarter, but the Lady Eagles caught fire late in the half and led 24-15 at intermission.
Marissa Redmon led the way for Oakdale in the first half with 10 points while Lunsford scored eight for the Lady Devils.
Oakdale’s lead ballooned to 16 points by the end of the third period as the Lady Eagles outscored Harriman 17-10 in the fourth quarter to make the score 41-25 with eight minutes left to play.
Harriman’s defense played well and the Lady Devils were able to close to within 10 points (42-32) at one point in the period, but Harriman was unable to put a real scare into the Lady Eagles down the stretch as Oakdale held on for the 13-point victory.
Redmon led Oakdale on the night with 16 points and six rebounds. Lindsey Kilby was next in line with eight points while Nicole Thompson (6 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals), Amber Snow (6 points, 4 rebounds, 4 steals) and Natalie McGill (6 points) all put up solid numbers for Fred Snow’s squad.
Lunsford (8 points) and Lindsey Higgins (8 points, 6 rebounds) led Harriman in scoring while Cree Moore was next in line with six points.

The Harriman Blue Devils buried only one three-pointer in regulation at Oakdale Tuesday night, but that won was a biggie as Alex White’s trey with 38 seconds left tied the score at 43-43 then the Blue Devils pulled away in overtime for their 13th win in a row.
The first four quarters of play were close throughout as neither team led by more than five points.
Oakdale led throughout the first period and was on top 14-9 after eight minutes of play.
Oakdale led for most of the second period also, but Harriman scored the last six points of the half to take a 24-22 lead at intermission.
Oakdale’s Josh Kilby and Harriman’s Dimitrique Inman were high scorers in the first half with nine points each.
Things remained tight in the third quarter and by the end of the frame things were deadlocked at 34-34.
Oakdale scored the first four points of the final period, but Harriman answered with six straight as a fast break basket from Tyler Dishman gave the Blue Devils a 40-38 lead with 2:04 left to play.
Oakdale answered with a three-pointer from D.J. Currier then Trenton Daugherty hit two free throws with 1:01 left to give Oakdale a 43-40 lead.
But before Oakdale could celebrate, White buried a three-pointer 23 seconds later and then the Eagles couldn’t come up with a basket on their last possession as the score was tied at 43 entering overtime.
Oakdale scored first in overtime, but Harriman answered with an old-fashioned three-point play from freshman Chase Randolph to take a 46-45 lead with 3:18 left to play.
Oakdale answered with a basket from Currier, but Harriman’s Darius Gallaher responded with a three-pointer to give the Devils a 49-47 lead with 2:38 left to play.
Harriman would shut Oakdale out from that point then the Devils hit five free throws in the final 53.6 seconds to pull away.
Inman led Harriman on the night with 20 points and 18 rebounds while Gallaher added 13 points and five boards.
Josh Kilby led Oakdale with 15 points and eight rebounds while Aaron Kilby added 13 points and three blocks.
