Harriman City Mayor Chris Mason said he believes this weekend’s Prospect 14 Tour will be just the encouragement needed and the opportunity for interested parties  looking for a places to expand or start up a new business.

The City, along with the Harriman Industrial Development board, is hosting a tour of the available properties that are for sale in the historic district of the downtown area of Harriman.

The 14 buildings available include the 55,000-square-foot former Roane Medical Center, as well as medical buildings and residential homes that have been used in the past years as offices by Covenant Health.

“We have worked very hard in reaching out to let people know about this event,” said Harriman Mayor Chris Mason. “It has been advertised both regionally and nationally.”

He added, “I would love to see it called Prospect 7 or less in the near future.”

The Prospect 14 Tour will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 22. The tour will begin with registration at the former Roane Medical Center, emergency room entrance. Representatives from the Chamber of Commerce, city officials, state representatives and the Harriman Industrial Development Board will be available to answer questions and offer information about the area’s history, demographics, details about the Urban Renewal and Redevelopment program, the properties themselves and doing business in Harriman.

“Harriman’s location makes it a perfect place to call home whether it is your personal home or business home,” Mason said.

Downtown Harriman is 3 miles from Interstate 40 and close to three major cities — Knoxville, Chattanooga and Nashville.
