Harriman Happenings

-A A +A

Last week I misprinted how many people were present at the Christmas gathering given by Roland and Rosette Harkness.

Instead of five family and friends present, there were 50 or more.

Please accept my apologies.

Last Friday my son Marvin Ray and my daughter-in-law Anna Anderson from Knoxville spent the day with me.

It’s a joy having your children to spend time with their parents.

We had a great time together, and to God be the glory.

Last Sunday was the annual choir anniversary at Anointed Praise and Worship Church.

It was greatly attended, and all were very blessed.

Mistress of ceremony was Melinda Bertram. She did a good job.

Those who made this service special: Men of Praise and Shaddai, and the Douglass Family. These are some great singers.

There are 10 choir members, and they sang the opening song.

Congratulations to this great choir. This is where the Rev. Alvin Douglass is pastor.

Recently Cordella Dodson celebrated her 90th birthday.

Her children gave her a party with family and a few friends in her home.

Cordella is ill. She is suffering from a stroke. All she wanted for her birthday was for the Douglass Family to come and sing for her. This they did.

She thanked all who really made her 90th birthday the best.

Happy birthday to you, Cordella, and God bless.

Our deepest sympathy is extended to the family of Jack Albert Goss, who departed from this life for his home with Jesus.

He was well known here and a Christian man, a good and living husband, father and grandfather.

He will be missed by family members and lots of friends.

His wife Pat will miss him.

Our prayers are with you, Pat and family.

Our sincere sympathy is extended to Una P. Simmons Gouge and all family members in the passing of Buford Bud Plemons, Una’s brother.

He was 92 years old and a member of South Harriman Baptist Church.

His service was held Thursday at Kyker Funeral Home.

Bazeltown’s annual women’s day is Jan. 26 at 11 a.m. Minister DeShawna McCowan Hendricks will be the morning speaker. The 3 p.m. speaker will be Pastor Angela Arnwine, and Greater Deliverance Church of Athens.

The Rev. J. Weaver is pastor. All are welcome.

The happiest birthday ever is wished to my great niece D’Naysha Cannon, who celebrated her birthday on the 11th of this month.

She is daughter of the Rev. Tony and Sybil Cannon and granddaughter of Julia Harris and Dara D’Burn.
