Last Sunday, St. Mary’s Baptist Church was guest to Lanes Chapel AME Zion Church in Niota to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the church’s pastor and his wife. They are the Rev. J.D. and Alice Howell.

The Rev. Jesse Williams delivered the message and the celebration choir provided the music.

This was a great service. Congratulations to Pastor and Mrs. J.D. Howell, and God bless you always.

Our deepest sympathy is extended to the family of Eugene Williams, who recently passed away.

He was the brother of the late Melvin Clemmons. He was the uncle to Mel and Roy Clemmons. He lived in Asheville, N.C.

Wishing Eugene McKessick a speedy recovery. He had surgery recently. so keep him in your prayers.

On March 20, Eddie and Alice Chatman celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary.

Congratulations to the lovely couple.

These are friends who are celebrating their birthdays this month: Gary Erving, Helen Roddy, Jeff Eskridge, Arvin Buttram, Willie Davidson, Jewel McCaleb, Shabria Eskridge, Jaceri Moore and Ralph Davidson Sr.

On March 27, a memorial for Stacia and her son Dennis Stevens was held at First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Paul Young is pastor.

Memorial was done by Jim Bridges. Music was by Kathy Smith.

Stacia was a volunteer at Roane Medical Center for 22 years. Several volunteers attended this service to show our love and respect.

My nephew Tony Hollow from High Point, N.C., visited me this past weekend. His cousin Cordell Bohannon from Oak Ridge spent time with us Saturday.

We attended Sunday morning service at St. Mary’s Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Willie Gallaher delivered the morning message. I thank God for family who care for each other.
