My daughter, Dorothy Graham, who lives in Oak Ridge, came here Saturday to take me out to dinner for my birthday.

Her brother, James Hawkins, came with her. We enjoyed a great lunch at Cracker Barrel. I really enjoyed the lunch and the fellowship.

A surprise birthday party in honor of the Rev. Clyde A. Jones’ 80th birthday was last Saturday at Jamieson Community Development Center.

When he entered the party, everyone said, “Surprise! Happy birthday!” He was really surprised.

More than 100 people came to celebrate his special day. His daughters gave this party for him: Chrystal Jones, Portia Jones and Anise Troup.

Teresa Brown’s daughter did a praise dance.

Many of Clyde’s friends stood and talked about him in days gone by and nice things about him now.

His only sister, Cathraine Brown, was there and talked about her brother.

Lots of people from his hometown of Dayton were present.

His wife, Jessie Bel, his sister-in-law, Norma Bazel and lots more of his relatives were also present.

Dinner was served, and all enjoyed this great meal.

Clyde gave his thanks to everyone and was thankful for his daughters. They did a great job and showed much love for their father. Happy birthday to the Rev. Clyde Jones.

Kristy Black told me that her parents, Gary and Dee Dee Oran, celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary on May 5. Congratulations to this lovely couple.

Carolyn Clemmons told me that while she was in Dayton, Ohio, last Saturday visiting Ellen Jackson that Ellen remembered all of her friends here in Harriman and sends her love to all the members of St. Mary’s Baptist Church and Pastor Williams and his family.

While Carolyn was there, some of Ellen’s friends came by from her church to wish her a happy birthday with gifts. Ellen is doing good, especially since being 101 years old.

After Carolyn, her son and Haddah left Dayton they visited relatives in Cincinnati and had a great cookout on Mother’s Day. Everyone had a great time.

Last Sunday, Virginia Childress and Angie Childress, Julia Harris, Alicia Harris, Sara D’Burn, The Rev. Toney and Sybil Cannon and their two children and I had a Mother’s Day dinner in Knoxville at Peerless. They food was delicious, and the fellowship was great. This was a great Mother’s Day for all of us.

We celebrated Angie Childress’ birthday with cake and ice cream with family in the home of Julia Harris. Angie’s birthday was May 15. She is the daughter of Virginia Jo Childress.
