More than 250 people attended the home-going service of Elder Ruby Jean Boyd last Friday.

Jean was well known and loved by all who knew her.

She was the wife of the late Jack Boyd. She was also a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and child of God.

She was an elder in Sevier Street Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Jean’s living was not in vain. She will be missed by family, her church and friends.

The Roane County Community Chorus celebrated their 28th anniversary last Sunday, April 28, in Believer’s Voice of Deliverance Church.

All groups that participated in this program were great.

Special guest was Vanessa Garner from Knoxville.

A special plaque was presented to the gospel chorus of St. Mary’s Baptist Church for still lifting up their voices in songs praising God and being the oldest choir in their community.

Sister Mary Alice Douglass presented this gift to the choir. She is the president of the community chorus.

Deacon Richard Hickey is the president of the gospel chorus.

We cannot thank this chorus enough for blessing us and encouraging us to keep our singing for the glory of God.

The Rev. Tony and Sybil Cannon, their children and Tony’s mother Sara D’Burn were dinner guests of Julia Harris and her daughter Alicia last Sunday.

A delicious meal was prepared for them which they all enjoyed. Afterwards they attended the anniversary of the community chorus.

My friend Clara Hughes spent a week in Mississippi visiting friends.

Sincere sympathy is extended to the family and friends of Bobby Charles, who recently passed away. Bobby loved attending the men’s Sunday school class at St. Mary’s Baptist Church from time to time.

He was a friend to a lot of people.

Glen and Virginia Jo Hickman and their grandsom spent the weekend in Asheville, N.C., where they celebrated the birthday of Glen’s mother, Jean Hickman. We wish Ms. Hickman a happy birthday.

Happy birthday to Myrtle Pankey and Lillie Moore, who celebrated their day April 27.

There will be a benefit service for Darnel Hamilton Friday, May 10, at Believers Voice of Deliverance Church at 7 p.m.

We are asking everyone to attend this benefit for this young man who is really ill. Come give and be blessed.

He is the son of Billie Hamilton’s sister.

To Spence Anderson, I wish you the best birthday ever. May Layla Anderson, daughter-in-law of Spence Anderson, have a wonderful birthday, and may you be blessed.
