Due to the absence of Pastor Jesse Williams last Sunday, Preacher Bernard Bertram delivered the spoken Word.
His text was taken from Job 2:1-5. Sermon subject was “He’s there all the time.” This was a great message. Music was provided by the Gospel Chorus.
Everyone present was blessed. Preacher Bertram’s wife also worshipped with us.
Jeff Harris and Malachi Jamieson from Nashville spent Saturday in Knoxville. They attended a football game that their 8-year-old nephew Kelten Cannon played in. Afterward, they played golf and then attended the football game where University of Tennessee played Florida.
On Sunday, they came here to see Julia Harris, who is Jeff’s mother and Malachi’s mother-in-law, and Alicia Harris. They came by to see me before returning home.
We would like to extend our deepest sympathy to Marvin Burum and family in the recent passing of his brother and cousin, Mr. Scruggs and Jim Burum.
Dana Stone, Eric Stone, Jessica Stone and Sheila Williams from Dayton, Ohio, spent four days with me and other relatives. They were relatives of Charles A. Stone.
They were guests at St. Mary’s Baptist Church last Sunday. The Stones came to pay last respects to their Uncle Charles. It was good being with other kindred that they hadn’t seen in a very long time and was so good having the other part of our family getting together, said the Stone family.
Cheryl Childress and her daughter Tesha, her husband Siler, their two children and niece spent Sunday afternoon with us, Charles Stone Jr. and his niece.
Later in the evening Julia Harris had all of them with her sister Virginia Childress and Angie Childress for ice cream and cake. All of them had a wonderful time in Julia’s home.
Last Monday, the senior missionary circle of St. Mary’s Baptist Church had our social hour. We opened with a devotion by Louise Warmley. Afterward, we enjoyed some good food that the social committee prepared for us.
Mary Hickey was in charge of games and Bible questions. This was an afternoon well spent. Maria Frazier, Virginia Childress, Lucille Gordon and JoAnn Palmer are the social workers. Julia Harris was present. The Rev. Jesse Williams Sr. is pastor.
