Our deepest sympathy is extended to the Kennedy and Williams family on the passing of Lene Kennedy in Gary, Ind.

Lene was the sister of Pastor Jesse L. Williams Sr., James and Johnnie Williams and Doris.

The family in Knoxville left Friday to go to Gary to attend the service of their sister that was held Saturday.

Our sincere sympathy to the Stone and Hamilton families in the recent passing of Charles A. Stone. He recently passed away in Johnson City. His service was Saturday, Sept. 15, at Evans Mortuary in Rockwood.

Wishing my friend, Nancy Oran a speedy recovery. Nancy has been a patient in Roane Medical Center.

A birthday dinner was given by St. Mary’s Baptist Church family last Wednesday evening in the fellowship hall. Beside the church family, Pastor Alvin and Mary Alice Douglass, Pastor Willie and Missy Gallaher, Pastor Robert Hall and Keith and Jill Johnson, along with Pastor Lionel and Margie Moore, were guests for our pastor.

The food that was prepared by Pecola Ewing and Pat Taylor and the committee was delicious. Birthday cake and ice cream were served.

Pastor Williams received lots of gift. Angie Childress and Julia provided the music. Mary Hickey and Marie Frazier were the hosts.

Expressions were given by the deacons of the church along with some other members. The birthday song was sung by all. Sister Elfredia Williams gave expressions and last remarks were done by the pastor.

We closed by singing his favorite song, “O I Want to See Him.” This was a great party. We wish our pastor, who has been with us for 33 years, many more birthdays and God bless.
