Harriman, Midway, Rockwood fall in state play

The opening round of the TSSAA Class A baseball and softball tournaments didn’t go well for three teams from Roane County.

In baseball, the Rockwood Tigers dropped a heartbreaking 5-4 decision against Jackson Christian in extra innings while Harriman was on the losing end of an 11-2 decision against Richland.

Softball wasn’t any better as Friendship Christian knocked off Midway, 10-0.

With the losses, all three teams will face elimination early Wednesday afternoon.
