Property owners in Harriman and Oak Ridge are looking at property tax rate increase of 2 cents under the county’s proposed budget for the 2011-12 fiscal year.
The issue has to do with adjustments made to the debt service funds, Roane County Executive Ron Woody said.
“The countywide debt payments need four additional (property tax) pennies,” he explained. “That is a tax increase in debt service to everybody of four pennies.”
