Neighborhood rivals Harriman and Oakdale got together on the hardwood Tuesday night and both schools would come away with a victory.

In the girls game, Oakdale rallied from one point down at halftime to pick up a 36-28 victory.

There would be no rally in the boys game as Harriman dominated from start to finish in picking up a 60-32 victory.

The Morgan County vs. Roane County theme will continue for these teams Friday night as Harriman visits Wartburg while Oakdale travels to Rockwood.

Girls Game

After sweeping Harriman last season, the Lady Eagles made it three-in-a-row Tuesday with a 36-28 victory.

Although Oakdale eventually won the game, Harriman gave the 8-0 Lady Eagles a tough time as the Lady Devils led 8-5 after eight minutes of play.

Courtney Thomas and Olyvia Lunsford scored three points each for Harriman in the opening quarter while Lindsey Kilby scored four for the Lady Eagles.

Things remained tight in the second quarter as Oakdale pulled to within 14-13 at halftime.

The score remained tight in the third quarter, but the third quarter would see the Lady Eagles take the lead for good. Oakdale outscored Harriman 12-7 in the period to take a 25-21 lead into the final eight minutes of play.

Kilby and Nicole Thompson led Oakdale’s attack in the third period with five points each.

Harriman took control early as the Blue Devils raced out to an 18-3 lead after eight minutes of play.

Sophomore sensation Xavier Howard had a huge first quarter with two three-pointers and 13 points while Darius Gallaher added five points.
