Harriman summer reading program kicks off on June 18

“Fizz, Boom, Read,” the 2014 summer reading at Harriman Public Library, kicks off June 18 with “Fizz Boom” chemistry with Al Hazari.

Activities for all ages that day will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 in the library at 601 Walden St.

With the exception of July 2, programs continue each Wednesday through July 30.

Upcoming activities are:

June 25 — American Museum of Science and Energy, 11 a.m. to noon for grades K-2 with “flight and hovercraft”; 1 to 2 p.m. for grades 3 and older with “force and motion.”

July 9 — Obed Wild and Scenic River exploration from the library, 11 a.m. to noon for grades K-2; 1 to 2 p.m. for grades 3 and older.

July 16 — “Fizz, Boom, Read” experiments, 11 a.m. to noon for grades K-2; Clinch River Raptor Center birds of prey, 1 to 2 p.m., for grades 3 and older.

July 23 — Science magic with magician Bruce Almato for all ages, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

July 30 — Awards, prizes and games include a Ronald McDonald visit, 11 a.m. to noon for grades K-2; and beekeeper Joan Davis and “Fizz Buzz” bees 1 to 2 p.m. for grades 3 and older.
