Flames shot high from the rooftop against a backdrop of billowing smoke at Super 8 Motel in Harriman Monday night.
Harriman fire officials said everyone got out the motel safely and the cause of the fire was not immediately known.
Firefighters from three departments used two ladder trucks to pour water down on the fire while others used hoses on the ground to douse the flames.
In one first-story room in the rear of the building, a beam had fallen down.
