In one of their best efforts of the season, Wartburg suffered a 22-14 loss at Harriman last Thursday to end their season at 1-7.
In a game that was tied for the majority of the time, Harriman used a touchdown run by Michael Roberts with 1:26 left to lift them to their first victory of the season.
The Bulldogs had a nice drive that went inside the arriman 20 on the opening series of the game, but Wartburg's John Ervin was intercepted by Harriman's Austin Barnett.
Harriman's Roberts scored the game's first touchdown on a 16-yard run with 5:40 left in the second quarter and T.J. Kirkland added the two-point run for an 8-0 lead.
Wartburg's Justin Durham recovered a fumble with 2:36 left until halftime and the Bulldogs went 35 yards in seven rushing plays with Durham going the final four yards for six.
Ervin hit Durham for the deuce to tie the game at 8-8 with 26 seconds left in the first half.
Durham intercepted a pass on the final play of the first half and returned it 47 yards to the Harriman 4 as time expired.
The Blue Devils came out to start the second half and marched 64 yards in 10 plays to take a 14-8 lead on a 21-yard run by Kirkland.
Durham stopped Kirkland short on the two-point try.
The Bulldogs took their opening drive of the second half and marched from their own 40 all the way down to the Harriman two before the drive ended on downs. Ervin and Durham hooked up for passes covering 33 and 23 yards to highlight the drive.
Ervin did connect with Durham for a 26-yard touchdown with 3:22 left in the game to tie the count at 14.
Ervin was sacked on the two-point try to keep the game even.
Harriman then responded with a four-play game-winning scoring drive capped by a 12-yard run by Roberts. Kirkland's 38-yard kick return set up the 26-yard touchdown march.
Kirkland added the two-pointer to make it 22-14 with 1:26 left.
The Bulldogs used a 20-yard pass from Ervin to Durham and also a pass interference call against the Blue Devils to get them as close as the Harriman 34, but four plays later, Harriman's Isaiah McClain intercepted a pass to seal the 22-14 win.
Wartburg's 182-yard offensive effort was led by QB John Ervin (10-22 for 166 yards, 1 TD, 2 INT passing, 7-5 rushing) and Justin Durham (9-161, 1 TD receiving, 7-8, 1 TD rushing).
Harriman's 172-yard rushing effort was led by the rushing trio of T.J. Kirkland (13-74, 1 TD), Garrett Greene (5-64) and Michael Roberts (8-34, 2 TDs).
