Families can register their students for the Homeschool Friday Programs for grades K-6 through December at the American Museum of Science and Energy in Oak Ridge.
Programs for homeschool students in grades K-2 are one-hour classes from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.; grades K-6 take two-hour classes from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
Program fees for grades K-2 are $7 for the public and $5 for museum members; 3-6 grades pay $12, with museum members paying $9.
Fees include the classroom program and museum admission for one student and one adult with the program.
Museum educators will lead homeschool students through interactive programs.
Upcoming programs include Plants, Pollinators and Seeds at Freels Bend Cabin, Oak Ridge, Sept. 13; Habitat Hunters at Freels Bend Cabin, Sept. 27; Sensible Science, Oct. 11; Skins and Skulls, Oct. 25; Magnetism for K-2 and Electricity for 3-6 Nov. 8; You Are What You Eat, Nov. 22; and Flight and Hovercraft, Dec. 6.
Advance reservations of one week prior to the class, are required for the Homeschool Friday Program. No last-minute reservations will be accepted.
Class registration is confirmed with receipt of payment.
The American Museum of Science and Energy, at 300 S. Tulane Ave., Oak Ridge, is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for ages 65 and older and $3 for ages 6-17; ages 5 and younger are admitted free.
Group rates are available for 20 or more with advance reservations.
