Covenant Health has selected the architect who will be drawing the plans for a new hospital to replace Roane Medical Center’s current operations in downtown Harriman.

Jodi Harris of Covenant’s marketing and public relations division said Knoxville-based The Lewis Group was selected to design the complex.

Covenant Health purchased about 42 acres in Midtown for the new medical campus. If approved by the Tennessee Health Services and Development Agency, the new building would be along Roane State Highway near the Pinnacle Point shopping center.

“We are excited about the new hospital and the advanced technologies, services and expert staff that will allow the best possible patient care to be delivered to our community,” said Jim Gann, chief administrative officer of Roane Medical Center.

“The community has been so supportive of us. We are happy to be making pro-gress in developing a modern community hospital campus close to home and convenient for our patients,” he added.

Roane Medical Center will apply for a certificate of need through the Tennessee Health Services and Development Agency. The certificate is required for the relocation and replacement of the existing hospital.
