Mike Borum and his mother Kathy admire the sticky buns freshly out of the oven at Rockwood’s Simply Sweet Bakery. “This is his passion,” Kathy said of her son. “My husband (Fred) and I decided to help him start the bakery up again.” The bakery, open since November, is at 1064 N. Gateway Ave. Mike Borum formerly owned Harriman’s Pattycake Pastries. The building housing his previous enterprise was once home to Edna McNamer’s long time Merri-Mac bakery. McNamer shared her recipes with Borum.
