Saturday was a big day for Harriman’s Xavier Howard as the Blue Devil senior guard topped the 2,000-point plateau with a 26-point performance against Berean Christian.
It turned out that Howard needed all of those points as the Devils had to rally in the fourth quarter for a 51-48 point victory over the Eagles.
Howard scored only two points in the first quarter as the teams were tied at 12.
Howard started finding his range in the second period. He buried a pair of three-pointers and scored seven points in the frame, but it wasn’t enough to give Harriman the lead as Berean led 27-25 at halftime.
Howard scored six more points in the third period, but Harriman still trailed 36-33 entering the final period.
Howard saved his best for last as he scored 11 points in the final period of play. His seventh point of the period gave him 2,000 for his career.
Chris Works also had a solid final period for Harriman, scoring seven points as the Devils rallied for the three-point victory.
Works finished the contest with 15 points.
Andrew Mee (13 points), David Graybeal (12 points) and Jacob Rechenbach (11 points) all scored in double figures for Berean Christian.

Saturday was also a good day for the Lady Devils as they rolled to a 71-40 victory over the Lady Eagles.
Harriman was never threatened Saturday as they used six points each from Jadah Gallaher and Madison Duncan to take a 22-4 lead after eight minutes of play.
Berean Christian scored 14 points in the second period, but Harriman scored 22 with Taylor Goins (7 points) and Emily LaRue (6 points) leading the way.
A lot of players saw a lot of minutes in the second half for the Lady Devils.
Seven players scored for Harriman in the third period as their lead grew to 63-28. Berean Christian did win the final period by four points to make the final score 71-40.
Twelve players scored for Harriman on the afternoon with Marilyn Franklin (11 points) and Gallaher (10 points) leading the way.
Berean Christian’s Anna Mershon led all scorers with 17.
