Harriman Police Department is calling this year’s National Night Out celebration “a good night to get to know your neighbors and give crime a going-away party.”
The event will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Aug. 7 at Harriman Riverfront Park.
National Night Out is a campaign designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; generate support for, and participation in, anti-crime programs; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
Harriman Police Department is encourages the public to turn out for a night of fun, food, music and fellowship.
“This is a family-oriented event with something for all ages,” said Karen Joseph of the Harriman Police Department.
Games and contests are planned for all ages, including doughnut eating, Hula-Hoop, bingo, Polly Want-a-Cracker, Chubby Bunny, apple bobbing and a pie-eating contest.
Harriman Police K-9 Unit will be on hand to conduct demonstrations. A car show is also planned at this year's event.
