Hugh X. Lewis to be at Young at Heart

Col. Hugh X. Lewis, a BMI Award-winning country music songwriter and performer, will be featured during the Kingston First Baptist Church Young at Heart meeting on Dec. 2.

The meeting starts at 10:30 a.m. in Kingston United Methodist Church at 212 W. Church St.

Lewis was designated poet laureate of Christian country music by the Tennessee General Assembly.

His syndicated television show, “The Hugh X. Lewis Country Club,” was the longest single-sponsored multi-market syndicated broadcast in country music history.

A Christian and country recording artist for more than 60 years, he has penned more than 250 songs recorded by artists such as Charley Pride, Kitty Wells, Stonewall Jackson, Little Jimmy Dickens, Del Reeves, Lynn Anderson and Jim Ed Brown.

His inspirational and humorous poetry is regularly featured in Tennessee Baptist and Reflector.
