Immigration issues to be lunch topic

R. Andrew Free of Ozment Law will be the guest speaker at the Oct. 1 Lunch with the League program.

The League of Women Voters of Oak Ridge program will start at noon in the social hall of Oak Ridge Unitarian Universalist Church at 1500 Oak Ridge Turnpike.

There is no cost to attend, and reservations are not needed.

Box lunches will be available starting at 11:30 a.m. on a first-come, first-served basis for $8, or those attending may bring a lunch.

Coffee and tea are provided.

Immigration issues continue to be a point of controversy on both the local and national levels.

Free, litigation counsel at Ozment Law in Nashville, will speak on immigration issues and concerns in Tennessee from the perspective of a law firm dedicated to enhancing social justice and the rule of law by aggressively defending and creatively advancing the rights of immigrants and their communities.

Ozment Law focuses on immigration and nationality law, criminal defense of immigrants, civil rights and civil liberties, government accountability and workers’ rights.

The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan organization that encourages informed and active participation in government and works to increase understanding of public policy through unbiased studies of public issues.

Membership is open to both men and women.
