It’s been a great summer here in Rockwood ... hot, but great.
My daughter Sophie and I visited our Rockwood Library each week for their Summer Reading Program.
This year’s theme was “One World, Many Stories.”
Library staffers Margaret and Judy and their crew hosted approximately 75 children throughout the summer for stories, crafts and general fun.
They kicked off their pre-school Story Time (free and worthwhile) on Sept. 7 at 10:30 a.m.
We also took advantage of the swim lessons available at our Rockwood Community Center pool. The lessons are during two different sessions in the summer. They last for two weeks each and cost only $25.
The Community Center had talented swim teachers on hand and taught 76 children.
And I couldn’t reflect on this summer without mentioning the fun we’ve had with friends at the Roane County Park splash pad!
The splash pad debuted last summer and is basically a water playground in the park filled with sprinklers and fountains. It is available free of charge for children of all ages to play and cool off in.
Check it out the next time you are strolling through our beautiful park.
Local library programs, local swim lessons and local fun at our county park — sometimes it’s important to note when we get it right.
