Cherokee battled with Sweetwater Tuesday night and split with the Wildcats.

The Lady Jackets cruised to a 29-14 victory led by Rachel Baggett and Piper Nunley.  The boys were led by Jake Reynolds and Tyler Thurman, but came up a little short in the fourth quarter losing by a final score of 32-30.

Girls Game

Sweetwater won the tip and got a quick two points to start the game.  Cherokee came right down the floor and answered with a basket of their own and picked it up on the defensive end of the floor holding the Lady Wildcats to just one more score the rest of the 1st.  Cherokee grabbed the lead and ended the first winning 8-4.

Neither team could get anything going as both teams really ramped up the defense in the second quarter.  Cherokee led going into halftime, 9-5.

Coming out of the half, the Lady Jackets continued the good defense but could not get anything to fall on the other end of the floor. Midway through the period, Nunley with a put back sparked the Cherokee offense that then laid it on the Wildcats late and pushed the lead to 10 points.

The Lady Jackets continued the pressure defense in the fourth, and had their best offensive quarter of the game as they went on to the 15-point victory.
