The Kingston Yellow Jackets and Lady Jackets celebrated Senior Night in style on Monday as both teams picked up victories over visiting Coalfield.

The Lady Jackets took the floor first on Monday and gutted out a 59-50 victory over Coalfield.

The boys game would see Coalfield lead throughout, but Kingston ended the game with a 13-0 run to pick up a 56-46 victory.

Girls Game

Kingston's Haley Cornellison put on a show Monday night as the talented Kingston sophomore scored a game-high 26 points and pulled down 15 rebounds in leading the Lady Jackets to a 59-50 victory.

Cornellison, however, didn't get off to a fast start. That was left up to Kingston's Makayla Cordell. Cordell buried a pair of three-pointers and scored eight points in the opening frame as Kingston led 13-7 after eight minutes of play.

Coalfield's Samantha Hamby opened the second period with a three-pointer that cut Kingston's lead to 13-10, but the Lady Jackets answered with a 10-0 run to take a 23-10 lead. That double-digit lead would be short-lived though, as Coalfield ended the half on a 7-2 run that made the score 25-17 at halftime.

Cordell buried two more triples in the second period for Kingston while Alaina Jordan led Coalfield in the first half with nine points.

Things would heat up in the third period as Coalfield outscored Kingston 17-15 in the frame to pull within 40-34 with eight minutes left to play.

Hamby (9 points) and Jordan (8 points) combined to score all 17 points in the period for Coalfield while Cornellison scored seven points in the period for Kingston.

Coalfield continued to fight in the fourth quarter as the visiting Lady Jackets closed to within three points at 52-49 with 1:35 to play thanks to a three-pointer from Erika Foster.

Coalfield, however, would get no closer as Kingston ended the game on a 7-1 run.

Cornellison scored 13 of her 26 points in the final period.
