Saturday was a busy day for the Kingston Yellow Jackets and Lady Jackets as they traveled to Anderson County High School to play a pair of TSSAA Hall of Fame games.
Kingston was pitted against a pair of tough opponents, and neither the Lady Jackets nor Jackets could come up with wins against Anderson County and Lenoir City.
The Lady Jackets dropped a 64-55 decision against Lenoir City and a 50-48 nail-biter against Anderson County.
On the boys side, Lenoir City topped Kingston, 57-46, and Anderson County knocked off the Jackets, 44-30.
Kingston vs. Lenoir City
Despite the best efforts of the Kingston Lady Jackets, they dropped a tough 64-55 decision to the Lenoir City Lady Panthers at Anderson County High School.
Lenoir City started the game with an 8-3 advantage, the Lady Jackets buzzed right back in contention with a 9-3 tilt to take a 12-11 lead before the Lady Panthers closed out the opening period on a 7-0 run to take the 18-12 lead at the end of the first period.
Lenoir City started off the second period on a 10-4 run before a 13-6 swing by Kingston put them down by a 34-27 tally at the half.
Lenoir City started the second half on a 16-6 surge before eventually taking a 56-40 lead into the final stanza.
Kingston went on a late 13-3 run, but it wasn't enough to stop the Lady Panthers as Lenoir City took the 64-55 win.
Kingston was led on offense by Harli-Blaine Oran (18 points), Taylor Thurman (9 points) and Sydney Nunley (8 points, 9 boards).

The Kingston Yellow Jackets battled hard, but the Lenoir City Panthers had just a bit more gas in the tank as the Panthers swept the Jackets with a 57-46 win.
The Jackets came on like gang busters in the first period as they jumped out to the early 10-2 lead before taking a 15-7 edge at the end of period number one.
In period number two, Lenoir City roared to life as a 14-6 edge through much of the second period helped tie the game at 25-25 going to the locker room.
The Panthers kicked it into overdrive in period number three with a 12-5 run at one point to take a 42-34 lead.
Kingston got within two in the final period at one stretch, but a 13-4 closing stretch by the Panthers slammed that window of opportunity shut for the 57-46 win by Lenoir City.
Jordan Huddleston (27 points), Brandon Griffis (11 points, 8 boards) and Hunter Golliher (5 assists) all played well in defeat.

Kingston vs. Anderson County
It was another tough go for the Lady Jackets as Kingston one on the chin in a heart-breaking 50-48 decision.
Anderson County started the game on an 11-5 run to take an eventual 19-11 lead after period number one.
On the strength of a 9-0 surge, the Lady Jackets battled back to within 26-24 at the break.
Anderson County doubled their tenuous lead in the third period to 39-35, but the Lady Jackets fought to get within two but a last-ditch attempt at the win fell just short as the Lady Jackets went down in defeat.
Sydney Nunley (16 points, 10 boards) had a double-double to lead Kingston with Kalli Sampson (12 points) and Harli-Blaine Oran (10 points) all faring well in the loss.

In a game with defense as the focal point, the Anderson County Mavericks stampeded past the Kingston Yellow Jackets for a 44-30 win Saturday evening.
Kingston took the early first period advantage with a 9-7 tally before the Mavs pulled out to a 21-19 halftime lead.
In the third period, it was the Mavs taking a 31-27 tilt before pulling away in the final stanza for a 44-30 win.
Kingston was led in scoring by Huddleston (12 points, 7 boards), Golliher (8 points) and Griffis (6 points, 5 boards).
