Jackets sting Blue Devils in tennis

The Kingston Yellow Jackets and Lady Jackets swept their tennis match against Harriman on Tuesday at Roane State.

The girls and boys both won by a final score of 7-2.


Harriman had just four players Tuesday and that led to just six matches being played with Kingston winning three matches via forfeit.

In the matches that were played, the Lady Jackets and Lady Devils split four games in singles while Kingston won both matches in doubles.

Harriman's victories in singles came with Jill Goldston beating Amanda Leachman, 8-3, while Kristen Arden handled Gabrielle Miller, 8-4.

Kingston won their matches as Presley Dowker defeated Haley Moore, 8-4, and Erin Theodeau knocked off Amber Frost, 8-4.

Lauren Nellis and Tiffany Rich won matches for Kingston via forfeits.

The Lady Jackets won both doubles matches. Leachman and Miller beat Goldston and Arden, 8-6, while Dowker and Theodeau defeated Moore and Frost, 8-3. 

Nellis and Ritchie won with a forfeit.


In boys singles, Kingston won five of the six matches played as Brandon Griffis beat Devan Franklin, 8-2, Quint Gasque beat Chane Goldston, 8-0, Chris Merryman defeated Matt Snow, 8-5, Timothy Smith beat Tre Pack, 8-0, and Colby Robinson knocked off Bubba Pressley, 8-2.

Harriman's win came with Darryl Farmer beating Hunter Parsons, 8-0.

Kingston finished off the Blue Devils by taking two matches in doubles.

Griffis and Gasque beat Franklin and Goldston, 8-2, while Merryman and Smith beat Snow and Pack, 8-1.

 Pressley and Farmer beat Robinson and Parsons, 8-1, for Harriman's win in doubles.
