Roane County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Tim Phillips said the inmate who jumped from the balcony in one of the jail’s housing pods last week is Dustin Sargent.
He and Elizabeth Cureton were arrested on Feb. 1 for promotion of methamphetamine and simple possession.
The two were in a car that allegedly contained morphine pills and meth-making materials.
The incident at the jail happened on Feb. 5.
Phillips said Sargent didn’t provide a motive for jumping.
“Normally, they don’t disclose that,” he said, of inmates who jump from the balcony.
Sargent was still in custody at the jail Tuesday afternoon.
Claude Damon Ladd waived his right to a preliminary hearing on Monday in Roane County General Sessions Court, and had his case bound over to the grand jury.
Ladd allegedly robbed Kinser Drugs in Kingston of pills last month. He’s charged with aggravated robbery.
The case against Jennifer Lynn Sawin was reset for April 1. Sawin is accused of selling alcohol to an underage informant at the Grill & Pub on Jan. 24.
Roane County Sheriff Jack Stockton recommended the Grill & Pub’s beer permit be revoked because of the incident. The county also sought to revoke the permit in 2011, but relented after owner Grover Norton agreed to certain conditions.
The Roane County Beer Board was scheduled to meet Tuesday evening. Norton’s permit was on the agenda.
Former Roane County property assessor candidate Steven Robinette appeared in court on Monday. Robinette is charged with DUI and violation of the implied consent law. His case was reset for April 8.
Robinette was arrested by Kingston police last November.
The report said he performed poorly on sobriety tests and refused to take a Breathalyzer.
Robinette ran unsuccessfully for property assessor in 2008 and 2012.

“The children ran back to their house,” the report said. “ Both children stated a man at 321 Mans Hollow yelled at them and shot a gun at them.”
Inman was arrested on two counts of reckless endangerment. Jail records listed his address as 321 Mans Hollow Road.
