J.P. True, 85, of Rockwood, passed away Monday, April 30, 2012, in NHC Healthcare Center of Oak Ridge.
A member of Rockwood First Baptist Church, he was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving on the USS Bladen; retired from TVA in Kingston; and a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Kerbela Shrine.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara True; a granddaughter, Ashley Henning; a great-granddaughter, Maleigha Henning; three brothers, Tom True Jr., Allen True and Lester True; and his parents, Thomas True Sr. and Maude Riddle True.
Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Brummett, Clinton; a sister, Naomi Irish, Rockwood; a brother, Robert True, Sand Mountain, Ala.; special friends, Sonja Hicks, Joshua Hicks and Krystle Russell; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 3, in Evans Mortuary chapel, Rockwood, with the Rev. Charles Kelly officiating. Burial followed at Roane Memorial Gardens with full military honors. The family received friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday in Evans Mortuary.
