King’s Academy overcame the Oliver Springs Lady Bobcats controlling the game and having more shots on goal Monday evening to take a 3-1 triumph at D.J. Brittan Field.
"We have to start passing the ball better." Oliver Springs head coach Josh Pryor said after the game. "We have to try to get combo passes of three or more consecutive passes instead of one or two passes. We also need to finish our chances to score better. We controlled the ball well but we didn't finish when we needed to."
Oliver Springs had their chances to score early on, one of which was a beautiful booming kick that sailed just over the goal.
Twenty minutes in, the Lady Lions got on the board first to take the 1-0 lead.
Five minutes later, King's Academy struck again with a two-on-one breakaway on the goalie for Oliver Springs to boost the lead to 2-0.
Ten minutes later, the Lady 'Cats struck into the goal on a Tori Lawson kick to cut the deficit down to 2-1 to end the first half.
Oliver Springs again had their chances in the second half to tie the game, but were thwarted each time.
King's Academy scored the back-breaking goal 70 minutes in on a booming 25-yard kick to take the eventual 3-1 win.
Tori Lawson had Oliver Springs' only goal and Morgan Meredith (7 saves) had a respectable showing as the goalie in defeat.
Monday’s loss dropped Oliver Springs to 2-1 on the season.
