Kingston bed, breakfast named among nation’s 10 ‘most romantic’

-A A +A

Love is in the air at Kingston’s Whitestone Country Inn.

The inn, at 1200 Paint Rock Road, and its 360 picturesque acres along Watts Bar Lake make it an easy choice for those wanting to make an escape with a special someone.

Now, Whitestone has an official place among the nation’s most romantic settings.

American Historic Inns and its iLoveInns.com website have named Whitestone as one of its “10 most romantic” inns in 2014.

“Looking to elope? This inn has its own chapel, florist, gazebo and horse drawn carriage,” iLoveInns.com boasts of Whitestone.

“Couples take walks through the acres of wildlife refuge fronting the lake or through the woods — there’s plenty of outdoor activities,” the description continues.

“Pristine rooms and cottages offer all the amenities, as well as fireplaces and lake views. There’s a unique eight-station marriage walk with reflective questions, a favorite of the many who come for their anniversaries.”

Whitestone Country Inn is the only Tennessee entry on this year’s “10 most romantic” list.

“They are the cream of the crop,” said Deborah Sakach,

iLoveInns spokeswoman, about this year’s listing.

She said Whitestone and other inns on the list were chosen because they offer “world-class hospitality, picturesque properties, and amenities and experiences that touch the heart and revive relationships.”

The list of “most romantic inns” was culled from almost 20,000 in iLoveInns’ online guides. Romantic settings, décor, hospitality and amenities that contribute to making it a memorable stay for guests are all considered while making the decision.

Whitestone has hosted more than 1,000 East Tennessee weddings, according to its website, WhitestoneInn.com.

“We know what it takes to make your wedding day special, and everything you need can be found here,” the website said. “Our romantic bed and breakfast’s expansive 360 acre property is situated along the shores of Watts Bar Lake, providing you with one of the most picturesque and serene country backdrops for what is sure to be a gorgeous East Tennessee wedding. Choose to get married in our chapel, in one of the gazebo’s around the property, along the shores of our stunning lakes, or in one of the many other beautiful locations on property.”

A bevy of amenities are offered, including a day spa.

“Our Chapel of the Good Shepherd joins to a gas lit, tumbled marble heart-shaped courtyard with gazebo overlooking the lake, which also joins to a large indoor reception area suitable for guests of up to 200 people,” the website continued.

Whitestone Country Inn was a dream innkeeper Paul Cowell envisioned beginning in 1963.

It opened to the public on Jan. 1, 1997, and has expanded over the years to include its vast facilities and amenities.

American Historic Inns Inc., founded in 1981, is one of the industry leaders in publishing country inn and bed & breakfast guide books, with more than 2.5 million books sold.

Its iLoveInns.com is a top country inn and bed and breakfast guide website with more than 19,000 bed and breakfast deals searchable by location or property type.

The website also features unique stories on exceptional properties and has handed out the prestigious “Top 10 Most Romantic Inns” award for 16 years.
