The city of Kingston has been approved for a $68,000 state grant for a playground project.
“Our parks are very important to our community, and I am very pleased that we will be receiving this grant,” said state Sen. Ken Yager upon learning about the Local Parks and Recreation Fund grant from Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation Commissioner Jim Fyke.
“I look forward to seeing the improvements that will come as a result of this grant,” Yager added
Local Parks and Recreation Fund grants are distributed by TDEC after being selected in a careful scoring process.
The grants are awarded based on revenue generated by the Real Estate Transfer Tax. Their purpose is to help expand community recreational opportunities.
