Kingston rejected on housing money request, will try again

Kingston Council learned that the city’s latest Community Development Block Grant request was rejected, but that there’s hope that it may be tweaked and successfully resubmitted at the beginning of 2013.

The city applied for a $500,000 CDBG grant earlier this year from the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The housing rehab grant would have been used for fixing low-income homes in the Byrd Circle area; 22 of 38 homes on Byrd Circle reportedly submitted applications for rehab.
