Tuesday night was a great night for the Kingston Yellow Jackets as the Lady Jackets and Jackets traveled to Rockwood and came away with a pair of impressive victories.
Powered by 20 steals, the Lady Jackets took the floor first and cruised to a 59-40 victory over the Lady Tigers.
Kingston’s boys wouldn’t come up with 20 steals, but they did have an easy time as they closed the pre Christmas portion of their schedule with a 60-38 victory.
One week after knocking off Midway, the Lady Jackets picked up their second straight victory over a county opponent with a 59-40 victory over Rockwood.
Kingston set the tone early as he Lady Jackets came up with eight steals in the first period and that allowed Connie Guinn’s squad to hold an 11-7 lead after eight minutes of play.
While the first period was close, Kingston started to pull away in the second period. The Lady Jackets used a 23-13 advantage in the quarter to take a 34-20 lead into the locker room at halftime.
Christina Neal led Kingston’s assault in the period as she buried back-to-back treys and scored a total of 10 points in the frame.
Allison Breazeale and Jade Napier scored six points each for the Lady Tigers in the first half.
Kingston maintained its double digit lead throughout the second half.
The Lady Jackets won the third period, 15-13, to take a 49-33 lead into the final period. Kingston added three points to their lead in the final period as they went home with the 59-40 victory.
Makayla Cordell led Kingston in scoring on the night with 13 points to go along with five steals and three assists. Neal also finished the game in double figures as she scored 12 points.
Brooke Smith (4 points, 9 rebounds), Mollie Eason (6 points, 6 steals, 4 assists) and Makisha Fuller (7 points, 10 rebounds) also put up solid numbers for the Lady Jackets.
Breazeale led the way for Rockwood with 11 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals. Kiley Gunter picked up eight rebounds for the Lady Tigers.
Kingston hits the floor again on Tuesday when they take on Walker Valley in the Lenoir City Christmas Tournament. Rockwood plays Knox West Tuesday in the Harriman Christmas Classic.

The first and third quarters were pretty much even, but Kingston dominated play in the second and fourth quarters on their way to a 22-point victory.
Neither team did much in the first period as the score was tied at 11 after eight minutes of play.
Kingston, however, started to take control in the second period as they outscored Rockwood 19-8 in the frame to make the score 30-19 at halftime.
Jordan Huddeston had a big first half for the Jackets as he had 12 points and nine rebounds.
Cleveland Davidson scored six points to lead Rockwood in the first half.
The third period was again close, but that didn’t help the Tigers as Kingston took a 42-30 lead into the final period of play.
Like the second quarter, Kingston ruled the final period, outscoring the Tigers 18-8 to make the final score 60-38.
Huddleston ended the game with a huge double-double as he had 21 points and 17 rebounds to go along with three steals. Robbie Szozda had a solid floor game for the Jackets with six points and seven assists.
Jared Breazeale led the way for Rockwood with 10 points while Davidson added nine points and three assists. Cameron Webster pulled sown six rebounds for the Tigers.
Kingston will play again Tuesday as they take on Sequoyah in the first round of the Lenoir City Christmas Tournament. Rockwood plays Seymour Tuesday in the Harriman Christmas Classic.
