The Kingston Lady Jackets were the ultimate opportunists Thursday evening against the Rockwood Lady Tigers, using 21 team steals to cruise to a 58-40 victory.
Kingston outscored the Lady Tigers in the first period 15-9 and used a 17-6 run at one stretch of the second period to take a 34-16 halftime lead.
Another 17-6 run in the third period helped give the Lady Jackets a 54-26 lead, and helped them hold off a 14-4 surge by the Lady Tigers in the final period for the 58-40 win.
Kingston dominated the game with a 32-17 advantage on the boards and a 21-10 surge in team steals.
Kingston was led by Makisha Fuller (11 points), Mica Gaines (10 points), Christina Neal (9 points), Mollie Eason (8 points, 6 steals) and Haley Cornellison (7 points, 5 boards).
Nicholle Partello (5 boards) also had a strong showing in the win.

In what can most aptly be described as, in the words of Lemony Snicket, "a series of unfortunate events" for Rockwood, the Kingston Yellow Jackets literally snatched victory from the jaws of defeat in a 55-54 thriller Thursday night.
Kingston took a 10-9 lead at the end of the first period and used a 14-6 run at one point in period number two as the catalyst to take a 24-19 halftime lead.
Rockwood, however, used an 11-5 surge at one stretch in the third period to take a tenuous 41-40 lead into the final period.
Both teams respective momentum would ebb and flow at various points in the final period, but Rockwood seemingly had sealed a victory with a fade-away 16-footer by Cleveland Davidson with 3.2 seconds left to make the score 54-53.
But on the inbound play, Kingston used one of the oldest tricks in the book, as Lucas Clower, set a screen for the inbound passer and was fouled, setting up a one-and-one free throw situation.
Clower remained as cool as a cucumber with all the pressure on him and calmly sank both free throws to take a 55-54 lead.
Rockwood made one last Herculean effort to win the game, but fell short as the Jackets left the Tigers with a stinging 55-54 defeat.
Kingston had a 23-20 edge on the boards and a 5-3 edge in steals.
Kingston was led by Jordan Huddleston (18 points, 5 boards), Darrin Mossing (9 points), Robbie Szozda (7 points, 5 assists), Aaron Fielden (7 points) and Derek Basler (6 points) as all played vital roles in the win.
Rockwood was led by the tag-team of Cleveland Davidson (22 points, 5 three-pointers), and Brendan Kirkland (16 points) along with Riley Clem (7 points).
