Kingston takes two from Harriman

Week one of the Tennessee Valley League was completed Saturday with both games being played in Roane County.

The biggest game in the county was at Harriman where the Blue Devils entertained Kingston. Kingston was able to take two of three against the Blue Devils.

In Rockwood, the Rams played three against Oak Ridge Cardinal and the Ridgers won all three from Rockwood.

Kingston at Harriman

Kingston got off to a good start with a 22-0 win in the cricket game.

The smallest Yellow Jackets spread the scoring around with three different players scoring touchdowns. 

Jabari Greer scored in the first half with Cameron Eddy adding the two-point run.

In the third quarter Carson Basler tacked on the third touchdown and Eddy added the two-point run for the 22-0 win.

Harriman rallied in the second game (Hoppers) for a 26-8 win over Kingston.

Johnny Cheers scored the first two Harriman touchdowns in the first quarter for a quick 12-0 lead. 

Kingston bounced back with a Dante Inman 10-yard TD run in the second quarter. Bradley Keathley added the two-point conversion to trim the lead to 12-8.

Harriman put the game away with Cheers scoring from 50 yards out early in the fourth quarter. Brady Stubbs added the two-point run. 

Stubbs scored a touchdown later in the quarter on a 12-yard run to give Harriman the 26-8 win.

The Kingston cutters pitched a shutout winning 26-0 over Harriman.

Brandon Plemons scored the opening two touchdowns on runs of three yards and two yards in the first and second quarters. Benji Headrick added the two-point run after the second Plemons TD.

Nathan Jones scored the third touchdown late in the second quarter on a 40-yard run to put Kingston up 20-0 at halftime. 

Coaches Sammy Foster and Rob Jago played everyone they could in the third quarter, but with the heat rising considerably they allowed Plemons to score the game ending touchdown early in the fourth quarter on a seven-yard run.

Oak Ridge Cardinal at Rockwood

Oak Ridge took all three games from Rockwood in impressive fashion as the Cardinal ended all three games early.

Rockwood will get another chance against Oak Ridge this weekend when they visit the Oak Ridge Gray team.

In week two, the scene shifts to Oak Ridge where Kingston will play the Cardinal team beginning at 10 a.m. Rockwood will begin play against the Gray team at 4 p.m. Both sets of games will be played on the field directly behind the Oak Ridge Boys and Girls Club.  

 Harriman will be off this weekend.
