A Rockwood man was charged with aggravated assault Friday night for allegedly pulling a knife on a customer in the Walmart parking lot.
Charles Robert Coffer, 72 Edington Lane, Rockwood, was also charged with theft.
According to the police report, Coffer allegedly stole a DVD player out of a man’s buggy after the man paid for it.
The man told police he confronted Coffer in the parking lot and got his item back.
“Mr. Coffer then pulled out a knife and stated that he would slit his throat if he got close to him again,” the report said.
Coffer then reportedly got into a car with his son and a female and left. Police caught up with him in the nearby McDonald’s parking lot.
“Mr. Coffer did admit to taking the DVD player,” the report said. “I then placed Mr. Coffer under arrest for theft under $500 and aggravated assault.”
