If Tuesday’s Campbell County versus Oliver Springs soccer game was a movie, it would be called "Tenacious D and the Kick of Destiny" as Campbell County used stifling defense and a booming 35-yard kick to win by a 2-1 margin over the Lady Bobcats at D.J. Brittan Field.

The game was scoreless for the first 26 minutes, but that all changed when the Lady Cougars boomed a goal into the net to take the early 1-0 lead at the end of the first half.

Brandi Sweet, Tabitha Comeaux and Logan Holley all had notable shot attempts for Oliver Springs in the first half, but none would score.

At the 42-minute mark of the second half, however, Holley tied the game up for the Lady ’Cats at 1-1.

However, at the 54-minute mark, Campbell County boomed in a 35-yard goal to take the 2-1 lead and hold on for the win despite Jayde Gilmore, Taylor Boswell, Holley and Tori Lawson making their best efforts to tie the game.

The Lady ’Cats had a 16-6 advantage in shots on goal in the loss.
