After disposing of Jellico in the District 4-A Tournament play-in game, the Oliver Springs Lady Bobcats rolled to an 11-1 victory over Oneida Tuesday in second round action.
One big inning was all it took for the Lady 'Cats on Tuesday. After spotting the Lady Indians a 1-0 lead in the second inning, Oliver Springs scored 10 runs in the third inning and one more in the fourth on their way to an early-ending victory.
Oliver Springs' first 12 batters actually reached safely in the frame with Cheltzie Sheldon scoring twice in the frame. Kayla Crisp, Shelby Miller, Macy Martin, Kaylee Morgan, Kayla Aloisi, Rachael Snellings, Lauren Johnson and Brittany Armstrong also scored in the inning for the Lady 'Cats.
Crisp ended the inning with four RBIs, with three coming on a bases loaded double. Morgan, Snellings, Johnson and Armstrong also drove in runs in the inning for the Lady 'Cats.
Oliver Springs scored their final run in the bottom of the fourth inning. Snellings reached on an error and scored the run with Sheldon picking up the RBI.
Morgan was the beneficiary of all the offense as she tossed a complete-game three-hitter with one walk and four strikeouts past the Lady Indians.
Sheldon (3-4, 1 RBI, 2 runs), Miller (2-4, 1 run) and Martin (2-3, 1 run) all had multiple hits for Oliver Springs on the night.
With the victory, Oliver Springs advanced to Wednesday's third round and a match-up with regular season District 4-A champion Coalfield. Wednesday's victory also leaves the Lady 'Cats one win away from advancing to next week's Region 2-A Tournament.
