Lady 'Cats pummel Jellico, 15-0

The Oliver Springs Lady Bobcats celebrated their Senior Night with a 15-0 thumping of the Jellico Lady Blue Devils Thursday night in the opening round of the District 4-A Tournament. 

Oliver Springs got started with an RBI off of a fielding error on a Kaylee Morgan hit and a Kayla Aloisi RBI single to make the score 2-0 at the end of the first inning. 

Oliver Springs scored one run in the bottom of the second on an RBI single by Brittany Armstrong before getting caught on a bizarre triple play. 

In the bottom the third inning, the Lady 'Cats pummeled the Lady Devils for 11 runs, three being walked in, three coming off an RBI double by Lauren Johnson, an RBI single by Johnson, another fielding error, a two-run single by Kayla Crisp, and Raichel Snellings stealing home, making the score 14-0 at the end of three innings. 

In the bottom of the fourth, Shelby Miller had an RBI double to make the score 15-0 which is what the game would end at. 

Kayla Crisp (2-2, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 2 walks), Shelby Miller (2-3, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 walk), Kayla Aloisi (2-2, 1 RBI, 1 walk), Lauren Johnson (2-2, 1 2B, 4 RBI, 1 walk), and Brittany Armstrong (2-2, 1 RBI, 1 walk) were the leading hitters. Aloisi (3 IP, 2 Ks, no walks, no hits, no runs) got credit for the win. 

Jellico had a pair of hits in the loss.

With the victory, No. 2 Oliver Springs advances to Monday’s second round of play and a match-up with No. 3 Oneida or No. 6 Sunbright.

The other half of the bracket will see No. 1 Coalfield taking on No. 4 Oakdale or No. 5 Wartburg.

 The tournament is being played at Coalfield.
