The Kingston Lady Jackets soccer team dropped a gut-wrenching 2-1 loss to the Lady Indians a scant two minutes into overtime Tuesday evening at Southwest Point.

The first half set the tone for the game as defense was of the utmost importance, with Oneida scoring the lone goal of the first half.

The Lady Jackets came close to scoring in the first half on shots from Kelli Allen, Skotti Bullington and Kaylie Wilson, the latter two having attempts that were shut down as the first half came to a close.

Kingston played their way back into contention in the second half on a Bullington penalty kick to tie the game up at 1-1.

Despite valiant efforts by Wilson and Bullington along with a late corner kick that sailed high, both teams went into overtime.

Two minutes into the extra stanza, Oneida got a wide open goal that sailed past the defender into the goal with laser-like accuracy, handing the Lady Jackets a bitter 2-1 district loss.

The Lady Indians owned a 22-12 shots on goal advantage while Tori Strahan, by and large, again lived up to her new-found “Stonewall” moniker with 15 saves.

Kingston hosted Stone Memorial Thursday and will be at Cumberland County on Tuesday.
