By Gerald Largen

The Rockwood Lady Tigers recently opened their season with a 50-31 victory at Sunbright, and they followed that up on at home by knocking off Sunbright again, 55-31.

Both games played out in similar fashion as Rockwood took control early and cruised in the second half.

Game One

A balanced attack was the key for Amy Breazeale’s squad in opening the season with a 19-point victory. A total of 10 players scored on the night with Jade Napier’s 12 points leading the way.

Napier got off to a quick start as she drained a pair of three-pointers and scored nine points in the first period of play. Napier outscored Sunbright in the opening period as Rockwood led 16-8.

The second period would see Shelbey Brackett bury a pair of three-pointers. Chelsea Cheek also hit a shot from downtown, as Rockwood took a 30-14 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Things didn’t change much in the second half. Rockwood outscored Sunbright 11-4 in the third period, then Sunbright won the final period 13-9 to make the final score 50-31.

Samantha Freels (9 points) and McKenzie Lee (8 points) came close to give the Lady Tigers three players in double digits.
