It was an up and down three days for the Rockwood Lady Tigers at the 2012 Jim Cordell Christmas Classic as Amy Breazeale’s squad picked up one victory while dropping two games.
The first loss was a tough one as Rockwood scored just 14 points in losing to Oneida, 38-14. Rockwood then bounced back with a 34-25 victory over Sunbright before dropping a 65-46 decision against a strong Meigs County squad.
Rockwood hits the floor again Friday when they host District 3-A rival Harriman at 6:30 p.m.
Game 1
Rockwood trailed just 11-7 after one period of play, but the Lady Indians outscored the Lady Tigers 27-7 in the final three quarters to make the final score 38-14.
Cheyenne Thompson led Rockwood on the night with five points while Micah Stephens paced Oneida with 16.

Game 2
The Lady Tigers rebounded nicely with a 34-25 victory over Sunbright.
Sunbright gave Rockwood a battle for a half, trailing 16-14 at halftime, but Rockwood used a big third period to pull away. The Lady Tigers won the third stanza 13-2 to take a 29-16 lead into the final period of play.
Sunbright did win the final period by four points, but it wasn’t enough to make a run at Rockwood.
Shelbey Brackett led Rockwood on the night with eight points while McKenzie Lee and Chelsea Cheek added seven each.
Andrea Morgan scored eight points to lead Sunbright.

Game 3
After struggling for points in their first two games, Rockwood scored 46 points on day three, but it wasn’t enough to stop Meigs County as the Lady Tigers from Decatur picked up a 19-point victory.
Meigs County started strong as they led 23-11 after one period of play, but Rockwood won the second quarter 15-8 to pull within 31-26 at halftime.
Rockwood remained within striking distance after being outscored 17-14 in the third quarter, but Rockwood couldn’t make a run down the stretch as Meigs County pulled away for the 19-point victory.
Dara Cates led Rockwood on the night with 19 points while Meigs County’s Emileigh Swafford scored a game-high 32.
