What a difference a day makes.
On Monday, the Midway Lady Green Wave needed a dramatic two-out, two-run home run from Alex Richardson in the bottom of the sixth inning to pull out a 2-1 victory over Harriman. Twenty-four hours later, however, there would be little drama as the Lady Waves traveled to Harriman and torched the Lady Devils, 17-3.
Midway started strong as Kallie Sohm, Christina Stansbury, Ragyn Hall and Alisa Barger all had hits in a three-run top of the first inning for the Lady Waves.
Harriman did hang around early as they pulled within 3-2 following a pair of runs in the bottom of the second inning. Ivory Peddicord and Taylor Sells scored the runs on a double from Marilyn Franklin.
The third inning would see both teams score, but Midway won the frame 4-1 to take a 7-3 lead after three innings of play.
Hall, Barger, Shade Narramore and Jayde Rose scored for Midway in the top of the third with Narramore, Richardson and Kaylee Burton collecting RBIs.
Abigail Higgins singled and scored Harriman’s run with Kaitlyn Abston picking up the RBI.
The rest of the game belonged to the Lady Waves as they score 10 runs in the final two innings.
A pair of two-run singles from Richardson and Sohm highlighted a five-run fourth inning that would see Hall, Narramore, Burton, Rose and Sohm crossing the plate. Four of Midway’s runs in the inning came with two outs.
The Lady Waves finished off the game by using four hits, two errors and a pair of sacrifice flies to score five more runs in the top of the fifth inning. Barger, Narramore, Burton, Rose and Richardson all crossed the plate as Midway cruised to the 14-run victory.
Sohm (4-5, 1 2B, 2 RBIs, 2 runs), Richardson (3-5, 1 2B, 2 RBIs, 1 run), Stansbury (3-5, 2 RBIs, 1 run) and Narramore (3-4, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 3 runs) all had multiple hits on the day.
