The Midway Lady Green Wave stayed perfect in District 3-A following an 11-3 win over Rockwood Wednesday evening at Midway.

The Lady Waves are now 3-0 in the district, but have yet to play any games against Grace Christian and they still must visit Rockwood. They also host Tellico and will try to play Harriman twice Monday and Tuesday. The first game against the Lady Devils will be at home while the second will be at Harriman.

Rockwood has beaten Greenback twice, but the Lady Tigers lost three straight this week, two to Harriman Monday and Tuesday and then to Midway Wednesday. Rockwood will visit Grace Christian Monday and host the Lady Rams Tuesday.

Wednesday’s was originally scheduled for Thursday, but with the approaching storm system the game was moved back to avoid the bad weather.

Midway saw things go their way early when they scored five runs in the first two innings.

Rockwood narrowed the lead to 5-3 with three runs in the fourth.

Midway put it out of reach with a six-run fifth inning. The rally was capped off with a two-run homer run by Alex Richardson.

Midway pitcher Ragyn Hall had a good outing allowing three runs on nine hits and one walk. She had three strikeouts and Midway’s defense had only one error.

Midway opened the scoring with a run in the bottom first. Kallie Sohm tripled with one out and scored on a single from Richardson.

Midway tacked on four more runs in the bottom of the second to go up 5-0. Alisa Barger drew a lead off walk. After an out, Kaylee Burton walked followed by a third walk for Jayde Rose to load the bases. The first Rockwood error off the bat of Halie Wiley scored Barger and Burton then Sohm drove in Rose and Wiley with a single.

Rockwood rallied with three runs in the top fourth inning trimming the lead to 5-3. Baylee Young singled to start the inning and she scored when Darian Green doubled. After a pair of outs, Terez Templin singled to score Green then Kelsey Edington doubled to drive in Templin.

Midway put the game on ice with a six-run fifth inning.

Hall walked to start the inning. After two outs, Burton ripped a triple to the fence scoring Hall. Rose drew a walk and Wiley got a short single to score Burton. Sohm came up with her second triple of the game to score Rose and Wiley.

Richardson ended the scoring with a two-run home run.
