Travelers on Interstate 40 should look out for nightly lane closures in both the east-and westbound lanes near Exit 347 at Harriman as workers make repairs to the bridge over Roane Street, Caney Creek and the H&NE and CNO & TP railways.
Tennessee Department of Transportation sent out a notice to look out for the lane closures this week.
When closures take place, it will be between 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
“It is scheduled to be completed on or before” May 15, 2014, said TDOT spokesman Mark Nagi.
Nagi said the plan was to do possible lane closures east-and westbound on Monday, weather permitting, to core the inside and outside shoulders.
Nagi said they also hope to do work on the eastbound off ramp.
“If approved by design we are going to widen the ramp to improve traffic flow off the ramp,” Nagi said.
Nagi said once this work is completed, the next phase of lane closures will begin.
The project is being done by Mid-State Construction Co. Inc.
