Friday night was a big night for the Midway Lady Green Waves as Amy Woody’s squad picked up a 47-40 victory over visiting Grace Christian Academy.
Friday’s victory was anything but easy for the Lady Waves as Midway trailed for much of the evening.
Grace Christian led 11-7 after eight minutes of play, but the Lady Waves did cut one point off that lead in the second period as the Lady Rams led 19-16 at halftime. The third period was played to a draw as both teams scored 12 points, leaving the score 31-28 in favor of the Lady Rams with eight minutes left to play.
The final period, however, was dominated by the Lady Waves. Midway outscored the Lady Rams 19-9 in the frame to pick up the seven-point victory.
Hayley Roberson led Midway on the night with a game-high 21 points while Darian Shultz and Alisa Barger scored seven points each.
Callie Cox (13 points) and Marisa Infield (11 points) scored in double figures for Grace Christian.

The odd quarters were good, but the even quarters were bad Friday night as Midway suffered an 81-48 setback at the hands of the Rams.
Midway played well early as the Green Waves and Rams battled to a 16-16 tie after eight minutes of play. Grace Christian, however, outscored Midway 16-6 in the second period and led 32-22 at halftime.
Midway settled down in the third period and scored 16 points again. Grace Christian, however, scored 18 points in the frame and led 50-38 with eight minutes left to play.
Midway needed a big final period if they were to pull out the victory, but it was Grace Christian that made all the plays down the stretch. The Rams outscored the Green Waves 31-10 in the final period to turn what was a close game into a 33-point blowout.
Sophomores Caleb Ruffner (18 points) and Clay Clower (11 points) led the way for Midway on the night.
