Carolyn Wilson, director of pharmacy for Rockwood’s Chamberlain Memorial Hospital, was part of a delegation of hospital pharmacists from throughout the United States who visited the People’s Republic of China for two weeks. The delegation visited at the invitation of the Chinese Medical Association. Wilson was one of only two pharmacists from Tennessee chosen.

A group of women from Jamestowne Assisted Living decided to combine their interest in crochet with a longing to help someone. They decided to crochet afghans to present to Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge to be given to newborns during the holiday season.

Flossie Worthy, a VISTA volunteer, was awarded the DeBruhl Medallion for 2005 by the Tennessee Community Assistance Corp. for her work at the Rockwood Housing Authority. The award, the highest one a VISTA volunteer can receive, honors Worthy’s tireless efforts to raising morale and living conditions among Rockwood Housing Authority residents.

Roane County Commissioners saw similarities between Roane and Loudon counties, but Loudon County was in the midst of a business boom and Roane County was not. Commissioners were trying to figure out what draw Loudon County had that Roane County did not. Officials hope the new hospital in Midtown will change things.
