Roane County’s first baby of 1987 was Ronald Allen Webb Jr. He was born at 9:26 a.m. Jan. 2 at Chamberlain Memorial Hospital in Rockwood. Ronald is the son of Charlene and Ronald Allen Webb Sr. of Rockwood.

10 Years Ago
Trevor Jones was born at 3:26 p.m. Jan. 2, making him the first Roane County baby born at Methodist Medical Center in 2002. Trevor’s parents are Melissa and Terry Jones of Rockwood. Trevor is the couple’s first child together and arrived three weeks early with a full head of hair.

Five Years Ago
A once-condemned Oliver Springs building was nominated for the National Register of Historic Places. Owner Charles Tichy was waiting for the official word of approval. The original structure at 105 Roane St., built in the 1920s, was at one time a single-doctor hospital.

One Year Ago
Noah Robert Pressley was born at 11:47 a.m. Jan. 1 at Methodist Medical Center. Skipping his original Christmas due date, he gained the title of first Roane County baby of the new year. Proud parents are Jessica Morgan and Robert Pressley, both of Roane County.
